The Ohrada ZOO
The Ohrada Hluboka nad Vltavou ZOO is situated in close proximity to the Ohrada hunting chateau, in the typical environment of South Bohemia, on the shore of the Munický pond with an alley of old oaks and a view of the Hluboka Castle. The smallest Czech ZOO is also one of the oldest. It was founded from private initiative of Dr. Adolf Schwarzenberg and his wife in 1937 and was opened to the public on 1st May 1939. More than 150 animal species can be seen here, most of them belong to species living in Europe and in the temperate zone of Asia. There are also representatives of exotic game. Interesting exhibits include waterfowl, and otter breeding in large glass pools is certainly worth seeing. Parking lot is directly in front of the entrance; there are refreshments available (except for winter months) and the possibility to buy souvenirs.
